A Lot of Things Have Come to Call...
So sorry that there hasn't been much to look at on my blog. I'm reminded of the part in "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" where Ned is in bed and says..."A lot of things have come to call...A cat, a dog, a cow, a mouse....Oh! What a bed! Oh! What a house!" Don't you just LOVE Dr. Seuss? He's got to be my all time favorite author! Horton Hatches the Egg...what a classic!
OK...sorry to get off-track...we have been busy...John and William are in tumbling where John has learned to do a back hand-spring and a front flip...and he can climb up the un-notted rope to the top of the gym and ring the bell...it's got to be at least 40 feet up! Maybe more!
John is also involved in Cub Scouts...where he is a Bear this year. He's wrapping up his popcorn sales and thanks to family and friends he has sold over $1000 again this year! This entitles him to be a part of the $1000 Club and he gets a free buffet and a $10 game card at The Incredible Pizza Company as well as being entered into a drawing for all sorts of scout things. Very cool!
Anne is an American Heritage Girl...this a "new" orgainization...about 11 years old based out of Ohio and is built upon how Girl Scouts were originated. Some of you may not know that the Girl Scouts have become very liberal in their viewpoints and who they support...one that come to mind is Planned Parenthood. Anyway, before anyone starts bashing me...not all councils within the GS organization support these ideas...as a whole, they do and we don't believe in those things, so...Anne is enjoying AHG and has done several service projects with them. She stood outside Wal-Mart and collected items for the Blue Star Mothers, then she and Rich went to their local headquarters to fill boxes of goodies to be sent overseas to the men and women defending our country and the rights of those that live here.
We're all involved at church...Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings. Rich is again leading the "Dads of Destiny" Bible study for Dads...duh! He and the kids started their Pencil Ministry this morning. They went to church to sharpen all the pencils in the pews. Rich said William was the BEST worker of the bunch...not surprised...he can fix his own bowl of cereal, pour his own juice and will even clean up his mess...if he made one...and he won't be 4 until October 26! He's amazing!
Anyway...I'm still busy figuring out what works and what doesn't in regard to homeschooling. It's definitely a journey, but one I feel God has called me to do. I really enjoy our co-op [called Legacy] on Wednesdays...the kids are learning Latin, Spanish, Astronomy, art and a "how to write" course for the older ones. It was kind of strange at our first few classes...we had to teach the kids how to do jump rope. But now, they've all caught on and LOVE recess so they can jump rope! I'll write more another time about Legacy.
