Cub Scout Summer Day Camp...
I enjoy this time of year...the first (or second) week of June...because it's Cub Scout Summer Day Camp. A full week of archery, BB guns, zipline, dirt, sweat, pretend fights, water games, and testerone levels at new highs. It's a week of 300 six to eleven year old boys, their moms or dads or even grandparents. It's hot...and humid and incredibly exhausting, yet fulfilling and amazing all at the same time. The boys grow this week (maybe not physically...although I think John grew two inches the week before at Boy Scout Camp)...but where they are growing up to be men. Here are some pictures from this year.
Unfortunately, William got sick on Thursday (fever and sore throat) so we were unable to finish the camp. Anne helped work in the Trading Post (and according to the mom running it did a much better job than the 14 year assigned to help). John got to help run the zipline two days and walked with the Webelos and participated in the Ropes Course.
All week, we kept hearing wonderful, positive comments about our boys. We think we have the best Pack in Eagle District...no, the Indian Nations Council...no, the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD!
Camp started every morning with the flag ceremony. This year our Wolves (second graders) got to lead it. William is the one (yes, with all the hair) on the far right holding onto the Oklahoma flag.

BB Guns...he got four of his five shots on the paper and 3 of those in the target area! Not bad for a leftie!
Fishing...not very successful, but he had fun!
His best bud, Charlie.

Teasing, big brother, John.

After jumping from the platform...this is what happens at the end!
