Field Trip to OKC

Our homeschool co-op took a field trip to Oklahoma City to tour the Capitol. It cost a little over a million dollars to build it, finishing in 1917.

Looking up at the dome. It cost 22 million dollars to add the dome, finishing in 2002. The Native American on top is 21 feet tall!

Here's the stained glass in the House of Representative's ceiling. It was covered for many years and when they went to restore it in the 1990s discovered that much of the glass was broken. However, they were able to find the original order from the Kokomo Glass Company so all the glass looks the same.

Here's the OK State Senate room. We noticed several messy desks and several well-organized desks. Couldn't make out whose was whose, though.

Here's a picture outside of the OK History Museum, which is very near the Capitol. The kids enjoyed climbing on the rocks.
