How Santa will be delivering this year...

The kids have so much...they don't NEED anything.Yet they WANT everything! So this year, Rich and I decided one family gift would be enough...so they're getting a trampoline.

The trouble was how to let them know what Santa "delivered" to the backyard. My kids and I LOVE to watch "The Amazing Race." Yes, I know some of the teams treat each other horribly, but we've used that to teach how we should all be treated...We have really enjoyed the geography and cultural lessons that go along with the show.

So, this Christmas, "Santa" has come up with an Amazing Race-type activity for the kids. The first note will be from Santa saying something like...we're doingthe Amazing Race Santa-Style this year...your first clue isattached.

From there:Clue #1: Make your way to the nativity scene that is set up in the bookcases in the living room. Put the pieces in the right places, remembering that Jesus' birth is what Christmas is all about. When finished, you will receive your next clue.

Clue #2: Search the book cases for a Bible. Your next clue will be inside. Roadblock #1: A Roadblock is a task that only ONE team member may perform. Each member may only perform one roadblock. Decide who will do it, then lift the flap to see what the task is. Put together thisBible verse in the correct order to receive your next clue. (the verse is John 3:16).

Clue #3: Make your way to the refrigerator in the basement. Get a juice box and look for your next clue. Roadblock #2: A Roadblock is a task that only ONE team member may perform. Each member may only perform one roadblock. Decide who will do it, then lift the flap to see what the task is. Go to the whiteboard in the school room. Using the markers, draw lines to match the words. (I'll put up some words about Jesus' birth from the Bible.)

Clue #4: Make your way upstairs to Mom and Dad's room. Search under the bed for your next clue. Roadblock #3: A Roadblock is a task that only ONE team member may perform. Each member may only perform one roadblock. Decide who will do it, then lift the flap to see what the task is. Play the matching game until you've won! Then you will receive your next clue.

Clue #5: Remember that Jesus' birth is the reason we celebrate Christmas. But it is fun to give and get presents, too. Make your way to the backyard for a mandatory pit stop. Grab a jacket and have a Merry Christmas!
